It's tough for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

This is the squad that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to six more T20 titles, and previously enjoyed over three years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, targeted by the peak baggers, are all that remain for a side that has won it all.

It needed as late as Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase exceeding 300, regaining their record for the largest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a tribute to the bowlers that have represented Australia over the past 50 years.

It is hard for their batters to maintain a record if not afforded the opportunity.

In the end, the outcome of Australia giving up 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy receiving a chance to produce her most recent brilliance.

Initially recognized as the teenage relative of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her nation didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups held the previous year and has witnessed all through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 World Cup win happened three months after her debut and seven international trophies have come from 10 tries across formats.

The tough gloveman was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India temporarily stopped the run of success.

That loss "pushed us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy stated recently.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the final and was declared player of the series. She ensured her country would not fall short again.

Whether this recent magnificent innings topped that previous effort can be debated.

Some will argue the argument supporting final game tension. Some might respond with the challenge that comes when facing a record target and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this hundred was far harder to predict.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 came as she led the batting statistics, but this performance came after six matches in India since the start of last month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've observed me in training, it's been a challenging time because I feel like I've had no rhythm at all," stated Healy.

"But once you take the field, your fighting spirit kick in and you simply focus on the match."

Healy's competitive nature has continuously been her great strength - and an irreplaceable characteristic in succeeding legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, fallen to the emerging pace bowler in all three matches, but here that only provided Healy's spark.

One run resulted off Gaud's first delivery and from there Healy was in motion.

"An opportunity to play and face the challenge with her and just have a bit of fun that way, sort of got me going," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her fastest at the World Cup - and her ton in 84 deliveries while she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three big hits.

By the time she was removed Australia required another 66 at a run-a-ball - an achievable target now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Pursuing 330 is uncharted waters so I'm pleased we have the assurance to achieve that now," added Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it again but, should it happen, we believe we can succeed."

Those words will be the last Australia's opponents at this championship need to hear.

During the last week a belief they will win from any position has grown stronger - this success following success over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite sitting at 76-7 at one stage.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a match against old rivals England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final place may probably be guaranteed.

During that phase they were eliminated from last year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a match Healy couldn't play because of torn tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the initial instance at an important competition.

So great is her will, she later said she regretted not playing through the pain.

Yet even as she subsequently acknowledged those injuries have postponed thoughts of retirement, this World Cup is likely to be her final tournament as skipper in one-day cricket and she is hasn't yet secured an international tournament as captain.

Victory in India would take her to the summit of her final mountain.
